Project objectives

This project aims to contribute for a reflection on subjects and concepts that in the last years revealed as reveal crucial for an integrated design of digital arts tools such as: adaptability, reuse, transcoding, distribution, programming, control and structuring of the data in the end user perspective.

Thus, this research has as main objectives, the study of tools for the assistance and design of navigable musical spaces, the design of interfaces for sound and musical expression and the study and systematization of techniques and integrated processes of sound production.

These objectives will be carried through the accomplishment of prototypes designed for:

  • edition of inter-applications musical spaces,
  • electroacoustic composition according to the micromontage model,
  • exploration of interactive interfaces for sound communication,
  • integration of tools for sound production.

Principal Investigator Objectives

The theoretical study and the prototypes of this project aim at the increment of the playful and game factor contained in the music and sound instruments to contribute for the introduction of paradigms to improve the musical phenomena enjoyment in an educative and playful perspective, basing the listening and the musical practice in a simultaneously active and contemplative perception and visualization of the sound.

To constitute alternatives to the common approaches to musical performance practice with traditional instruments, through the introduction of culturally more broadening musical structures than the ones based on the traditional instruments, normally limited for common paradigms as melody or the halt tone note interval.

To allow to a intuitive approach to the manipulation and composition of the sound through the introduction of simplified controllers from the ergonomic point of view proposed by the instruments and tools develop by the team.
